2. Freewriting Adventures at Luneta on Aug. 3, 2013
The second Freewriting Adventure was actually our first outdoor adventure. The first was just a meet up inside a coffee shop, but for this one we encouraged writers to explore Rizal Park (Luneta Park). The meeting place was in front of the Rizal monument, and the adventure lasted from 10a.m. to 5p.m. Although it rained, our four participants were still willing to push through with the activities whenever the showers halted.
The activities that we did were:
- ABC introduction game. Inspired by an improv exercise, this challenge asks participants to form a circle, then each participant will say something about himself or herself but the letter of his or her sentence should start with the letter A, then the next participant introduces himself or herself as well but this time he or she has to begin his or her sentence with the letter B, and so on until we all get to the letter Z.
- Freewriting. Write freely without judgement. You are not allowed to think about grammar or spelling. You are not allowed to worry about whether what you're saying is interesting or not. Just write.
- Rizal story. Go to the Rizal execution scene sculptures, pick a statue, and invent a backstory leading up to that scene.
