Freewriting Adventures (FWA) has taken young writers on a hop-on-hop-off LRT expedition, on a hunt around Luneta park, on a tour around Manila’s top art galleries, and now we are coming back on Saturday Sept. 27 with Color Me Quiapo.
If you want to escape the confines of classroom-based
learning, hit the crazy streets of Manila, and feel inspired by the vividness
of real life, then you should join our next adventure in Quiapo.
From 10a.m. to 4p.m., participants will forget boring yellow, and instead learn how to write like this—the Grand Canyon/ Kindled into delicious color/ By Western Sunsets (From Maya Angelou’s A Brave and Startling Truth).
Participants will learn this
through exercises such as Color of a Dog’s
Lip; Don’t Say Yellow, Say Feeling; and Colors That Say, ‘Hey!’. All of
these are modified versions of writing exercises from Spunk & Bite: A Writer’s Guide to Bold, Contemporary Style by
Arthur Plotnik and other writing books. Each writing exercise will be a
response to the burst of colors that we will see in Quiapo.
So be there at 10a.m. Meeting place is at Jollibee, third
floor of Manila City Plaza, Carriedo Street, near Quiapo Church. Only ten slots
are available, so reserve your slot by texting your full name and e-mail to
0905-441-9386 (contact person: Ja Cruz). Regular fee is P500 per person.
